The Ministry of Education convened officials in Gangtok to assess the progress of the PM POSHAN nutrition scheme and the Samagra Shiksha education program across the Northeast region.
New Delhi's Ministry of Education held a high‑level review in Gangtok, Sikkim, focusing on the implementation status of two flagship schemes – the PM POSHAN nutrition programme and the Samagra Shiksha integrated school initiative – across the eight Northeastern states.
Representatives from the state education departments, along with central officials, presented data on school‑level nutrition delivery, enrollment trends and infrastructure upgrades under the schemes. The discussion highlighted gaps in supply‑chain logistics for mid‑day meals and the need for stronger monitoring mechanisms to ensure that the intended benefits reach children in remote areas.
The ministry said the review will inform corrective actions and additional resource allocation to accelerate progress before the end of the financial year. Officials also agreed to submit a consolidated report to the Union Cabinet within the next fortnight.
