The Enforcement Directorate has contacted Punjab police to file an FIR against senior officials and a builder over a fraud case in Gmada, Mohali, accelerating the probe.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken steps to lodge a First Information Report (FIR) concerning an alleged scam in the Gmada locality of Mohali, Punjab. Sources say the agency approached the state police to ensure the FIR names senior officials and the construction firm suspected of involvement.

The action marks an acceleration of the probe after reports of financial irregularities emerged. By involving the ED, authorities indicate that the case may involve money‑laundering or other economic offences within its mandate.

Punjab police are expected to register the FIR without delay, after which a comprehensive inquiry will commence. Details of the alleged misconduct and the identities of the senior officials have not been disclosed, as the investigation remains ongoing.

The development reflects a broader trend of central agencies scrutinising real‑estate and infrastructure projects nationwide, where similar frauds have previously attracted regulatory action.
