Devadurga, Sept. 29: The Taluk Committee of the Constitution Protection Force has alleged that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) searches conducted at locations linked to Public Works Minister and Congress leader Satish Jarkiholi were politically motivated and demanded that the investigation against him be dropped.
In this regard, the Taluk Committee of the Constitution Protection Force submitted a memorandum to the Devadurga Tahsildar.
The committee alleged that the ED action was targeted at Satish Jarkiholi for raising his voice in support of Dalits, oppressed communities and backward classes. The committee stated in its memorandum that allegations have been raised that central investigative agencies such as the ED and CBI are being used against opposition leaders, and claimed that the ED action against Jarkiholi may also have political motives.
On September 9 and 10, the ED conducted searches at several locations associated with Jarkiholi, his family members and close associates. Reports citing ED sources stated that cash and various documents were found during the searches. Jarkiholi has denied the allegations and, according to reports, said that the ED action against him could be politically motivated.
The Constitution Protection Force Taluk Committee demanded a comprehensive review of the functioning of investigative agencies and urged that the ED investigation against Satish Jarkiholi be dropped immediately.
During the submission of the memorandum, committee office-bearers and various leaders, including Vishwanath Ballidav, Rangappa Gosal, Lakshman Jyothi, Gourampete Babu, Shabbir Buwaji, Hanumantharaya, Karna Maladakal, Channabasava Nayak, Rachanna Nayak, Hanumantha Dore Babu Kawas Ranganath Kobin, Wali Qureshi, Hanumantha Rao, Gundappa Nayak, Shivraj Nayak, Harshavardhan, Channabasava, Lakshman Rao, Dastagir Sab, Kotadoddi Ranganath Nayak and Tippanna, were present.
