The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) confiscated 76 kilograms of methamphetamine tablets during coordinated operations in Assam and Mizoram, marking a major drug bust in the Northeast.

According to the DRI, the seized quantity represents one of the largest drug consignments intercepted in the region in recent years. The operation involved coordination between state police, the Narcotics Control Bureau and customs officials, aiming to disrupt the supply chain of illicit stimulants.
Investigators have launched a probe to trace the origin of the shipment and identify the network behind it. The seized drugs will be handed over to the state drug enforcement agencies for further forensic analysis and legal proceedings.
The DRI emphasized that continued vigilance at border points is essential to curb the flow of narcotics into the Northeast, which has increasingly become a transit corridor for drug traffickers.
