Renowned director S.S. Rajamouli announced plans for a new epic set in Varanasi, featuring Telugu star Mahesh Babu and Hollywood‑Bollywood crossover actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas, according to Filmfare.
Renowned filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli has revealed that he is developing a new epic film to be shot in the historic city of Varanasi. The project, reported by Filmfare, will star Telugu cinema’s leading actor Mahesh Babu alongside internationally recognised actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
Rajamouli, best known for his large‑scale, visually spectacular movies, said the venture aims to "redefine epic grandeur" by blending his signature storytelling with the cultural richness of Varanasi. He intends to use the city’s ancient ghats and spiritual ambience as a narrative canvas.
The casting of Mahesh Babu marks his first collaboration with Rajamouli, while Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who has worked across Hollywood and Bollywood, brings a cross‑border appeal to the film. Both actors are expected to play pivotal roles that drive the story’s mythic tone.
Details about the film’s plot, production schedule or release date have not been disclosed, but industry observers anticipate that the combination of Rajamouli’s direction and the star‑studded cast could set new benchmarks for Indian cinema.
