Dial 112 officer Samir Kumar dies after service pistol discharge in Kishanganj barracks

On Sunday morning, a tragic incident unfolded inside the barracks of the Sadar police station in Kishanganj, Bihar. Constable Samir Kumar, posted with the Dial 112 emergency response unit, was shot with his own service pistol, resulting in his immediate death.

The shooting occurred while Kumar was inside the police barracks; preliminary reports suggest an accidental discharge, though the exact circumstances are still under investigation by the district police department.

Following the incident, senior police officials convened an emergency meeting, expressing deep concern over the loss of a colleague and ordering a full inquiry to determine procedural lapses and to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
