Devotees flock to Ujjain as Baba Mahakal receives bhang adornment and peacock feather garland during Bhasma Aarti

During today's Bhasma Aarti in Ujjain, Baba Mahakal was anointed with Panchamrit and decorated with bhang, Ganesh, cow mother symbols and a peacock‑feather garland, drawing thousands of devotees.
Ujjain witnessed a large gathering of devotees today as the Bhasma Aarti commenced at the Mahakaleshwar Temple. The ritual began with the traditional Panchamrit abhishek of Baba Mahakal, the revered form of Lord Shiva.
The deity was then uniquely adorned with bhang, a symbolic offering, along with a decorative garland of peacock feathers. Additional embellishments included representations of Lord Ganesh and the sacred cow, reflecting local devotional customs.
The elaborate shringar attracted thousands of worshippers who lined the temple precincts to receive darshan. Many described the atmosphere as charged with devotion, noting the vibrant colours of the peacock‑feather mala and the fragrant bhang.
