Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated Hyundai Motor India’s new manufacturing facility in Pune, which is slated to boost annual output to 320,000 vehicles by 2030.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis formally inaugurated Hyundai Motor India’s latest plant in Pune on Thursday, marking a significant expansion of the Korean automaker’s footprint in the state. The ceremony, attended by senior Hyundai officials and state representatives, highlighted the company’s commitment to scaling up domestic production.

The new facility is designed to raise Hyundai’s annual manufacturing capacity in India to 320,000 units by 2030, a substantial increase from its current output. While the plant is operational from day one, the full capacity ramp‑up is planned over the next several years as additional production lines come online.

Hyundai’s investment is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs in the Pune region, bolstering the local supply chain of auto parts manufacturers and ancillary service providers. Industry analysts view the expansion as a boost to India’s automotive sector, aligning with the government’s ‘Make in India’ agenda.

The company has not disclosed the exact financial outlay for the plant, but the move underscores Hyundai’s confidence in India’s growing consumer market and its strategic importance as an export hub for the brand’s global operations.

With the capacity target set for 2030, Hyundai aims to capture a larger share of the increasingly competitive Indian car market, while also contributing to the state’s industrial growth targets.
