Health officials in Patiala have identified dengue larvae in 141 sites, prompting a citywide vector control drive.
Health authorities in Patiala announced that dengue larvae were found in 141 locations across the city, marking a significant rise in potential transmission sites. The findings prompted an immediate vector control operation, with teams deploying larvicides and conducting widespread inspections.
The Punjab State Health Department has mobilised additional resources, including mosquito traps and public awareness campaigns, to curb the spread. Residents are advised to eliminate stagnant water, use mosquito repellents, and seek medical attention if they develop fever and joint pain.
Officials estimate that the larval presence could increase the risk of dengue outbreaks if not addressed swiftly. The city’s municipal corporation has pledged to monitor the situation closely and coordinate with state health agencies for a coordinated response.
