Health officials have identified dengue in three inmates and typhoid in several others among 30 prisoners falling ill at Indore Central Jail, and have transferred all to M.Y. Hospital for treatment.

Indore Central Jail reported that 30 inmates have become ill in recent days, prompting a medical investigation by the state health department. Laboratory tests confirmed dengue fever in three prisoners, while a number of others tested positive for typhoid infection.

In response to the diagnoses, prison authorities moved every affected inmate to M.Y. Hospital for comprehensive care and isolation, aiming to prevent further spread within the correctional facility. The hospital is providing supportive treatment and monitoring vital signs closely.

The Madhya Pradesh Health Department has deployed teams to oversee sanitation, water quality, and vector‑control measures inside the jail premises. Regular disinfection and mosquito‑larvae control activities are being intensified, and food‑handling practices are under strict surveillance to curb typhoid transmission.

Officials emphasized that the situation is being managed proactively, and they will continue to update the public as more information becomes available.
