In Bidar, Karnataka, education officials urge strict enforcement of the government‑declared Dasara holidays after several schools continued classes during the break.

Bidar, Karnataka—Education officials in Bidar are demanding that schools cease operations during the Dasara holidays, following reports that several institutions continued to conduct classes during the break.

The Karnataka government has mandated a mid‑term Dasara holiday from 3rd to 21st for all government, aided and unaided schools for the 2026‑27 academic year. The education department has made it clear that all schools must observe this break.

Despite the order, some schools in Bidar district have violated the directive and continued teaching during the holiday period. In response, the education department’s deputy director (administration) issued a memorandum on 6th, instructing all taluka field education officers to enforce the government order strictly.

Karnataka Youth Organization Union president Vijay Kumar Sonare, who is also the honorary president of the Karnataka Youth Organization Union, has called for action against the schools that are not respecting the holiday. He emphasized that the Dasara festival is an important cultural tradition and that schools should not impose undue academic pressure on students by conducting classes during the break.

The education department is urged to visit schools and take appropriate action against those violating the order, ensuring that the holiday is respected for the welfare of the students.
