The Centralized Air Quality Monitoring system recorded Delhi's September Air Quality Index at its lowest since 2022, signalling an improvement in the city’s air conditions.

The Centralized Air Quality Monitoring (CAQM) network released data on Monday showing that Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) for September was the lowest recorded since 2022. The figure, compiled from multiple monitoring stations across the capital, marks a measurable drop compared with the same month in recent years.

Analysts note that September typically records moderate pollution levels due to post‑monsoon conditions, making this decline noteworthy. While the exact AQI value was not disclosed in the brief, the trend suggests a positive shift in ambient air quality.

CAQM, which continuously tracks pollutants such as PM2.5, PM10, NO₂ and ozone, said the current reading reflects a city‑wide improvement. Officials from the National Capital Region’s environmental agencies have urged the public to maintain the momentum, emphasizing that sustained monitoring remains essential.

The data will be incorporated into monthly reports that guide policy decisions on traffic management, industrial emissions and green initiatives aimed at keeping Delhi’s air cleaner in the months ahead.
