On the second day of the new flyover’s opening, commuters in Delhi’s Barapullah area faced a 3‑km traffic jam, waiting up to 55 minutes.

Delhi’s Barapullah area witnessed a significant traffic test following the opening of a new flyover on the second day of its operation. The elevated structure, intended to ease congestion on the busy NH 44 corridor, has already attracted heavy traffic.

Commuters reported a 3‑kilometre stretch of vehicles stalled, with some drivers waiting up to 55 minutes to pass the flyover. The delay was attributed to the sudden surge in traffic volume and the need for drivers to adjust to the new route.

Traffic police and municipal officials have increased patrols and are monitoring the flow to prevent further bottlenecks. They urged drivers to use alternate routes where possible and to stay patient as the flyover’s traffic patterns settle.

City planners expect the flyover to reduce travel times over the next few weeks, but commuters are advised to plan ahead and allow extra travel time during peak hours.
