Delhi traffic restricted as BRICS summit rehearsal commences

Delhi police announced that several major arteries, including parts of Ashok Rajpath, Janpath and the Ring Road, will operate under temporary traffic curbs today to accommodate the rehearsal of the BRICS summit. The restrictions are aimed at clearing space for security deployments and logistical movements required for the high‑profile event.
The rehearsal, a full‑scale simulation of the summit proceedings, involves coordination among multiple agencies, including the Ministry of External Affairs, the National Security Guard and the Delhi Police. Vehicles carrying equipment, dignitaries and support staff will be routed through designated corridors, while public buses and private cars are advised to use alternate routes.
Commuters have been urged to plan their journeys in advance, with the Delhi Metro expected to see a surge in ridership. The traffic police have deployed additional personnel at key junctions to manage flow and minimize inconvenience.
The curbs are expected to remain in place for the remainder of the day, after which normal traffic patterns will be restored, officials said.
