Delhi Police Detain AAP State President Saurabh Bharadwaj and Several Legislators

Delhi police have taken into custody AAP Delhi state president Saurabh Bharadwaj along with several party legislators following a protest outside a police station, while demanding an FIR against Pravesh Verma.
Earlier today, Delhi police entered the premises of a local police station and placed AAP Delhi state president Saurabh Bharadwaj in custody. The action was taken after a group of party members staged a protest outside the station, demanding action against a senior police official.
Along with Bharadwaj, several AAP legislators and councilors were also detained. Police officials said the arrests were made under sections of the Indian Penal Code related to unlawful assembly and obstruction of public servants.
The party’s protest centered on a demand for a First Information Report (FIR) against Pravesh Verma, a senior officer accused of alleged misconduct. AAP leaders argued that the FIR is essential to ensure accountability.
AAP spokespersons condemned the arrests as an attempt to intimidate the party and reiterated their call for a transparent inquiry into the allegations against Verma. The police, however, maintained that the detentions were lawful and that the matter would be investigated further.
