The India Meteorological Department warned that Delhi‑NCR is experiencing a dry spell and that the air‑quality index has reached hazardous levels.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a weather bulletin indicating that the Delhi‑National Capital Region is currently under a dry spell, with negligible rainfall expected in the coming days. Concurrently, the department reported that the region's air‑quality index (AQI) has crossed the hazardous threshold, signalling severe pollution levels.

Health officials have cautioned residents, especially those with respiratory conditions, to limit outdoor activities and to use masks when venturing outside. The IMD has advised the public to stay updated with real‑time AQI readings and to follow any further advisories.

The dry conditions are expected to exacerbate dust and particulate matter in the atmosphere, contributing to the deteriorating air quality. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and may consider temporary restrictions on activities that generate additional pollutants.

Citizens are urged to conserve water, avoid open burning, and keep windows closed during peak pollution hours to mitigate health risks. The IMD will continue to provide updates as the weather pattern evolves.
