The Delhi Metro Corporation announced the closure of multiple stations today as the Chief Justice of India and opposition parties prepare for coordinated protests.
Delhi Metro Corporation confirmed that a number of stations across its network were closed today as a precautionary measure ahead of planned protests involving the Chief Justice of India and opposition leaders. The decision, announced early this morning, aims to ensure passenger safety and to facilitate smooth movement of security personnel along the routes expected to host demonstrations.
A spokesperson for DMRC said that the closures affect several major interchange points and high‑traffic stations, and that alternate transport arrangements are being coordinated with city authorities. Commuters have been advised to use buses, auto‑rickshaws and other metro lines that remain operational.
The Metro authority expects the affected stations to reopen later in the evening, once the protest activities subside and law‑and‑order conditions are deemed safe. Police and municipal officials are on standby to manage crowds and to clear any disruptions that may arise during the demonstrations.
