Delhi Introduces New PUC Rule from Oct 1, Vehicles Risk ₹10,000 Fine

Delhi’s Transport Department announced that from 1 October a new Pollution Under Control (PUC) rule will be enforced across the city. Vehicles that do not possess a valid PUC certificate or fail the emission test will be subject to a ₹10,000 fine. The measure targets older and non‑compliant cars, three‑wheelers and commercial vehicles that have been found to exceed permissible pollution limits. Officials said the stricter enforcement is part of the city’s broader plan to reduce air pollution and improve public health. The rule will be monitored through roadside checks and digital verification of PUC status.
