The Delhi High Court refused to stay the release of the film ‘Doosra’, dismissing former cricketer Sourav Ganguly’s petition.

The Delhi High Court has turned down a petition filed by former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly that sought to halt the theatrical release of the movie “Doosra”.

Ganguly approached the court alleging concerns that prompted his request for an injunction, but the bench found no sufficient grounds to intervene and ordered that the film’s scheduled release proceed.

With the court’s decision, distributors and exhibitors are cleared to screen “Doosra” as planned, and the film’s producers have welcomed the ruling, stating that they will now focus on promotion and audience outreach.

Legal challenges to film releases are not uncommon in India, but the present case underscores the judiciary’s reluctance to impose pre‑emptive bans absent compelling evidence of wrongdoing.
