Delhi Govt to Enforce New PG Policy After Satya Niketan Tragedy

Following the Satya Niketan incident, the Delhi government announced a mandatory PG policy that will require licensing and revise rental arrangements.
The Delhi administration has decided to roll out a comprehensive paying‑guest (PG) policy in the wake of the tragic incident at the Satya Niketan hostel.
Under the forthcoming rules, all PG establishments will have to obtain a license from the municipal authority before operating, aiming to ensure safety standards and accountability.
The policy also seeks to standardise rent structures, preventing arbitrary hikes and providing clearer terms for tenants.
Officials said the measures are intended to restore confidence among students and working‑class renters and to prevent recurrence of safety lapses.
Detailed guidelines will be issued in the coming weeks, and a monitoring mechanism will be set up to enforce compliance.
