In response to the Saty Niketan building collapse, Delhi officials have set up a committee to evaluate the need for student hostels in unused government premises and to monitor unsafe PG accommodations.
Delhi government has formed a committee to assess the feasibility of converting vacant government buildings into student hostels after the Saty Niketan building collapse.
The committee will conduct a needs assessment across the city, identify suitable sites, and recommend measures to ensure safety and adequate accommodation for students.
Officials say the initiative aims to address the growing demand for affordable housing for students and to reduce the prevalence of unsafe private PGs.
The committee will also review existing private PGs for safety compliance and will work with the municipal corporation to enforce regulations.
