The India Meteorological Department has issued alerts as the monsoon moves across North India, with Delhi expecting continuous rainfall for the next seven days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has raised weather alerts for the northern belt as the monsoon system advances, bringing widespread cloud cover and precipitation across several states. Meteorologists note that the current trough is unusually persistent, prompting the agency to advise heightened vigilance.
In Delhi, officials anticipate a prolonged spell of rain lasting up to a week, with intermittent heavy showers expected each day. The capital's drainage network is being readied for higher water flow, and the municipal corporation has issued advisories for commuters to expect traffic snarls and possible disruptions to public transport.
Residents are urged to keep emergency kits ready, avoid low‑lying areas prone to waterlogging, and stay updated through official IMD bulletins and local authorities. Schools and offices may adjust timings if conditions deteriorate, while the government monitors the situation to mitigate any impact on daily life.
