Farmers in Jalandhar district are unable to complete the rice harvest on schedule, according to local reports.
Local sources in Jalandhar, Punjab, have reported that the rice harvest this season is falling behind the usual timeline. Field observations indicate that a significant portion of paddy remains uncut despite the expected harvesting window closing.
Timely harvesting is crucial for maintaining grain quality and ensuring steady supply to regional markets. Delays can expose the crop to adverse weather, pest pressure and may affect price dynamics for both farmers and traders.
District agricultural officials are monitoring the situation and have advised farmers to expedite operations where possible. No official intervention or relief measures have been announced yet.
If the lag persists, the district could see a shortfall in the expected marketable rice output, potentially influencing supply chains across Punjab and neighboring states.
