The remnants of Cyclone Arnab are expected to subside in Uttar Pradesh today, with the state recording a 14% increase in rainfall for the month and light morning fog forecast.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an update indicating that the lingering effects of Cyclone Arnab will diminish across Uttar Pradesh starting today. The system, which entered the state earlier this week, has been responsible for scattered showers and gusty winds.

Data from the IMD shows that Uttar Pradesh has already experienced about 14% more rainfall this month compared with the long‑term average, a rise attributed to the cyclone’s outer bands. While the excess precipitation has helped replenish water tables, authorities are monitoring low‑lying areas for any localized flooding.

Meteorologists also warned of light fog developing in the early mornings over the plains of the state. Visibility is expected to drop to around 200‑300 metres in some districts, prompting advisories for commuters and pilots to exercise caution.

State officials have assured the public that emergency services remain on standby, and they have urged residents to stay updated through official channels as the weather stabilises.
