Cyclone Arnab has lost strength as it moves over Jharkhand, bringing widespread rain and cooler breezes that have pushed temperatures down across the state.

The India Meteorological Department reported that Cyclone Arnab, which entered the eastern part of the country earlier this week, has now weakened considerably as it traverses Jharkhand. The system, once classified as a severe cyclonic storm, is currently being tracked as a deep depression with reduced wind speeds.

Across the state, the weakening cyclone is triggering intermittent showers and a noticeable influx of cold northerly winds. Districts from Ranchi to Dhanbad have recorded steady rain since early morning, with cloud cover persisting throughout the day.

The combined effect of rain and cooler breezes has led to a measurable drop in daytime temperatures, with many areas reporting readings several degrees lower than the usual pre‑monsoon highs. Residents have welcomed the relief from the earlier heat, though officials advise caution as localized flooding remains possible.

Meteorologists expect the system to continue losing intensity over the next 24 hours, with rain gradually easing and temperatures stabilising at milder levels.
