Cyclone Arnab has altered weather patterns in Bihar, prompting the state’s meteorological department to issue a red alert for Sitamarhi and Madhubani and rain warnings for districts including Patna.
The remnants of Cyclone Arnab moved northward into the Indian sub‑continent on Tuesday, bringing a sharp drop in temperature and a surge in wind speeds across Bihar. The Regional Meteorological Centre in Ranchi classified the system as a severe weather event and issued a red alert for the districts of Sitamarhi and Madhubani, where gusts are expected to reach 50‑60 km/h.
In addition to the red alert, the department released rain warnings for several other districts, including Patna, Vaishali, and Samastipur. Forecast models indicate scattered to moderate showers between 6 am and 6 pm, with accumulated rainfall of 30‑50 mm in the most affected areas.
Authorities have advised residents to secure loose objects, avoid travel on exposed roads, and stay updated through local news bulletins. Emergency response teams have been placed on standby in the alerted districts to assist with any flood‑related incidents.
The meteorological office will continue to monitor the system and update advisories as the weather evolves over the next 24 hours.
