The Indian Meteorological Department has issued warnings as Cyclone Arnab and Cyclone Murasu threaten the east coast, with heavy rain and storm surges expected in coastal states.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has released a joint advisory after Cyclone Arnab intensified over the Bay of Bengal and Cyclone Murasu approached the eastern coastline. Both systems are forecast to bring strong winds, heavy rainfall and significant storm surges to coastal districts in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Cyclone Arnab, currently located about 300 km south of the Andaman Sea, has reached a Category 3 intensity with sustained winds of 120 km/h. The IMD predicts it will make landfall near the Visakhapatnam region within the next 48 hours.

Meanwhile, Cyclone Murasu, a Category 2 system, is moving westward along the coast. It is expected to hit the Andhra Pradesh coast around the same time, bringing winds of 90 km/h and rainfall exceeding 200 mm in some areas.

Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable districts to seek shelter, secure property, and stay updated through local radio and television broadcasts. Evacuation centers have been set up in several coastal towns, and the National Disaster Response Force is on standby to assist in rescue operations.
