Crude oil prices fell following attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, but retail petrol and diesel rates in India stayed unchanged, HDFC Sky reports.

Global crude oil markets reacted to recent attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz by slipping modestly, according to HDFC Sky. The security incidents raised concerns over the flow of oil through the narrow waterway, a key conduit for a large share of the world’s petroleum supply.

Despite the dip in benchmark crude prices, Indian retail fuel prices for petrol and diesel were reported unchanged on the same day. The stability in domestic fuel rates reflects the lag between international price movements and the pricing mechanism used by Indian oil marketers.

Analysts note that while the Hormuz disruptions have introduced short‑term volatility, the Indian market may not see immediate price adjustments unless the security situation persists or widens. For now, consumers can expect no change at the pump.

HDFC Sky’s market brief highlighted that the crude price movement was limited, suggesting that the market is absorbing the risk without a sharp sell‑off, while Indian fuel pricing remains insulated for the moment.
