A consumer who halted his milk delivery service was denied a refund of Rs 170 by the dairy. The consumer court subsequently directed the dairy to pay nearly fifteen times the amount as compensation.

The consumer had stopped the milk delivery service and requested a refund of the advance amount of Rs 170, which the dairy failed to return despite repeated requests. Feeling aggrieved, he approached the appropriate consumer redressal forum seeking the refund and additional compensation for the deficiency in service. After hearing both sides, the forum found the dairy at fault for unfair trade practice and directed it to refund the original amount along with compensation amounting to nearly fifteen times the sum, reinforcing consumer protection provisions.
