A concrete slab from the third floor of a building under construction near the Matan police outpost in Datiya fell onto the adjoining road on Tuesday. The falling debris struck Hakeem Singh Yadav, a 50‑year‑old resident who was walking along the street at the time.
Yadav sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the district hospital for emergency treatment. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries while under care.
Local residents noted that Yadav was known for leading bhajan sessions at the nearby Pitambara Pitha, a religious venue in the area. The incident has raised concerns about safety protocols at construction sites in the region.
