Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has urged the government to reinvest mining revenue to tackle a reported 13‑lakh‑tonne coal shortage.
Conrad Sangma, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, made the appeal while addressing the ongoing debate over the state's coal supply. He pointed out that a shortfall of approximately 13 lakh tonnes of coal has been reported.
The Chief Minister said that the revenue generated from mining activities should be redirected towards strengthening coal infrastructure and ensuring steady supply to power plants and industries.
He added that reinvesting mining earnings could help alleviate the shortage and support the state's economic stability, urging concerned departments to act promptly.
