Two prominent Shankaracharyas, Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati of Jyotirpeeth and Swami Sadanand Saraswati of Dwarka Sharadapeeth, have sent congratulatory messages to Digvijay Singh’s nationwide pad yatra.

Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh launched the ‘Saty Sanatan Swabhiman Yatra’ earlier this week, a foot‑march aimed at rallying public sentiment around cultural pride and moral values. The itinerary covers several districts across the state, with the leader addressing crowds on themes of heritage and social cohesion.

During the launch, two senior heads of Hindu monastic orders – Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati of the Jyotirpeeth and Swami Sadanand Saraswati of the Dwarka Sharadapeeth – issued formal messages of support. Both Shankaracharyas praised the yatra’s objective of awakening citizens against perceived moral decay and urged participants to uphold dharma in everyday life.

Political analysts note that the endorsement from respected religious figures adds a spiritual dimension to Singh’s campaign, potentially broadening its appeal beyond his traditional voter base. The messages, circulated through official channels, emphasize unity, national pride and the need for ethical conduct, aligning with the yatra’s slogan.

Supporters gathered at the starting point in Bhopal to hear excerpts from the Shankaracharyas’ letters, while the yatra is slated to proceed to major towns in the coming weeks, culminating in a rally in Indore before the next electoral cycle.
