The Mineral Department, acting on the collector’s orders, confiscated three mini trucks loaded with illegally mined sand in Shahdol, while a driver fled the scene.
Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh – On the collector’s directive, the state’s Mineral Department carried out a swift operation against illegal sand mining. Officials stopped three mini trucks that were transporting sand without proper authorization and seized the vehicles on the spot.
During the raid, one of the drivers attempted to escape by taking his vehicle and fleeing the area, but the remaining two trucks were secured and taken to the department’s depot for further investigation.
The department also reported that a separate action in nearby Jaitpur led to the disposal of 330 cubic metres of illegally extracted sand, underscoring a broader crackdown on unlicensed mining activities in the region.
Authorities have warned that any further violations will attract strict penalties, and they are continuing surveillance to curb illegal extraction that harms local ecosystems and depletes natural resources.
The seized sand and trucks will be examined for compliance, and legal proceedings are expected to follow against the owners and operators involved.
