Supporters of losing candidates in Pechupada, Bhandeda and Mahukheda gram panchayats demanded a fresh count, alleging vote rigging, prompting the local MLA and the DSP to arrive at the scene.
Tensions flared in the BandiKui block of Rajasthan after the results of sarpanch elections were announced for three gram panchayats – Pechupada, Bhandeda and Mahukheda. Supporters of the candidates who were declared losers gathered at the respective polling centres, alleging irregularities in the counting process.
The aggrieved groups demanded an immediate recount, claiming that the vote tally had been manipulated. They raised slogans and blocked entry to the election officials, creating a volatile atmosphere that threatened to disrupt the local administration.
In response, the elected Member of Legislative Assembly from the area arrived on the scene along with the Deputy Superintendent of Police. Both officials urged calm, assured that the concerns would be examined, and warned against any unlawful actions.
Election officials have been asked to verify the complaints and consider a fresh count if warranted, while the police have been tasked with maintaining order until the matter is resolved.
