During the Bihar Legislative Council election in the Patna SN constituency, supporters of JD(U) candidate Neeraj Kumar and rival Anant Singh confronted each other, prompting police action.

Patna, Bihar – On voting day for the Bihar Legislative Council, the Patna SN constituency, often described as a hot seat, witnessed a physical confrontation between supporters of JD(U) candidate Neeraj Kumar and those backing rival Anant Singh. The clash broke out at a polling station as both groups attempted to mobilise their cadres.

Eyewitnesses reported that the altercation involved shouting, pushing and the use of stone‑throwing, creating a volatile atmosphere inside the booth area. Local police, already present for election duty, intervened promptly to separate the factions and restore order.

Within minutes, the police detained several individuals identified as instigators of the violence. The arrested persons are being held for violating the Model Code of Conduct and for disturbing public peace during the election process. No injuries were reported, and voting resumed after the area was cleared.

Election officials have reiterated that the Patna SN seat remains under close surveillance, given its strategic importance in the council race. The incident underscores the heightened tensions that often accompany high‑stakes elections in the state.

Authorities have urged voters to maintain calm and respect the democratic process as the counting of votes proceeds later this week.
