Industry leaders at the Confederation of Indian Industry’s Andhra Pradesh conclave in Tirupati called for a more robust research and development push and greater focus on innovation to boost the state’s competitiveness.
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) convened its Andhra Pradesh conclave in Tirupati, bringing together senior executives, policymakers and academic representatives. Speakers highlighted that the state’s growth trajectory hinges on accelerating research and development activities and embedding innovation across sectors.
Several presenters pointed to gaps in funding, infrastructure and talent pipelines that hinder large‑scale R&D projects. They urged both the state government and private firms to create dedicated innovation hubs, increase collaborative grants and streamline regulatory processes.
The consensus was that a coordinated push in R&D would not only attract higher‑value investments but also enhance the competitiveness of traditional industries such as textiles and agro‑processing. Attendees pledged to formulate actionable recommendations for the upcoming state budget.
The conclave, held at the Tirupati Convention Centre, concluded with a call for a sustained policy framework that incentivises startups, supports industry‑academia partnerships and positions Andhra Pradesh as a hub for cutting‑edge research.
