Beijing announced a $45 billion capital infusion into domestic banks and insurance firms as part of a broader effort to stabilise the economy.
Chinese authorities have launched a massive financial support package, allocating $45 billion to strengthen the balance sheets of commercial banks and insurance companies.
The move, disclosed by the Ministry of Finance and the People’s Bank of China, aims to counter slowing growth, rising corporate debt and to restore confidence in the financial sector.
Officials said the funds will be provided through a combination of direct capital injections, low‑cost loans and preferential policy measures, with the expectation that stronger banks and insurers will sustain credit flow to businesses and households.
Analysts note that while the injection is sizable, it follows a series of similar stimulus steps earlier this year, reflecting Beijing’s willingness to use state resources to prop up the economy amid external pressures.
The package is expected to be rolled out over the next few months, with regulators monitoring its impact on liquidity and risk levels.
