The Chhattisgarh government has prepared a draft Noise Control Bill and opened a public consultation period for comments.
The Chhattisgarh state administration announced the preparation of a draft Noise Control Bill aimed at curbing excessive sound pollution across urban and rural areas. The proposal outlines permissible noise limits for residential, commercial and industrial zones, and prescribes penalties for violations.
Key provisions include a maximum of 55 decibels during daytime and 45 decibels at night in residential neighborhoods, stricter limits near hospitals and schools, and mandatory use of sound‑proofing measures for construction sites. Enforcement agencies will be empowered to conduct spot checks and issue notices.
The government has opened a 30‑day public feedback window, inviting citizens, industry bodies and NGOs to submit written comments through the official portal or at designated district offices. All submissions will be reviewed before the bill is presented to the state legislature.
