With many devotees staying away from Bihar, major ghats in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru are being readied for Chhath Puja rituals this year.

The Economic Times has highlighted a list of waterfront ghats across three metropolitan cities where Chhath Puja will be observed this year. In Delhi, the Ganga Ghat near the Rashtrapati Bhavan and the Yamuna Ghat at Rajghat have been earmarked for sunrise and sunset offerings to Surya Dev. Mumbai's Marine Drive and the Chowpatty shoreline are also set to host large congregations of devotees, while Bengaluru's Ulsoor Lake and the Sankey Tank ghats are being prepared for similar rituals.

Local municipal bodies in each city have undertaken cleaning drives, installed temporary puja platforms, and arranged security personnel to manage crowds. Authorities have also issued guidelines on maintaining water quality and ensuring that traditional offerings such as Thekua and sugarcane are disposed of responsibly.

Organisers expect the celebrations to attract both migrants from Bihar and local residents who wish to partake in the ancient solar worship. The shift to urban ghats reflects a growing trend of observing regional festivals in metropolitan settings, providing devotees with a safe and accessible environment away from their home states.
