The Union Government has sanctioned a ₹993.64‑crore upgrade of National Highway 10 between Rangpo and Ranipool in Sikkim, enhancing connectivity in the northeastern state.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has approved a ₹993.64‑crore project to upgrade the stretch of National Highway 10 that runs between Rangpo and Ranipool in Sikkim.
The upgrade will involve widening the existing two‑lane road to a four‑lane carriageway, strengthening bridges, and improving drainage and safety features along the 10‑kilometre corridor.
Officials say the improved highway will reduce travel time between the district headquarters of East Sikkim and the border town of Ranipool, boosting trade and tourism in the region.
Work is expected to start in the next fiscal year, with completion targeted within 24 months, pending final approvals and land acquisition processes.
