The Centre for Liberty has urged the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams to reconsider its ban on bike taxis operating on the Tirumala ghat roads, citing concerns over traffic congestion and commuter safety.
The Centre for Liberty, a civil‑rights organisation, has formally requested the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) to lift its ban on bike taxis that operate on the Tirumala ghat roads.
TTD imposed the ban last year, citing safety concerns and traffic congestion on the steep ghat roads that are heavily used by pilgrims visiting the Tirumala temple complex.
Centre for Liberty argues that the prohibition disproportionately affects commuters and could lead to longer travel times. The group proposes that TTD consider regulated routes and safety measures instead of a blanket ban.
TTD has not yet issued a response to the request, and the ban remains in effect as of now.
