The Union government has given its nod to the construction of a road‑over‑bridge at Comba in Mangalore, Karnataka, and simultaneously cleared two additional road‑work proposals.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has formally approved the construction of a road‑over‑bridge (ROB) at Comba, a busy junction in Mangalore, Karnataka. The clearance removes a long‑standing bottleneck on the city’s coastal highway, where traffic congestion has been a daily concern for commuters.
In the same approval, the centre also gave the green light to two other road‑work projects in the region, though the specific locations were not disclosed in the release. These additional clearances are part of a broader effort to improve connectivity along the western coast of the state.
Officials said the Comba ROB will be built under the central‑state partnership model, with funding shared between the Union and Karnataka governments. Once completed, the elevated structure is expected to streamline traffic flow, reduce travel time and enhance safety for both private and commercial vehicles.
The Ministry indicated that detailed project reports are being finalised and that construction could commence within the next few months, subject to tendering and land‑acquisition formalities.
