The Central Bureau of Investigation has detained two Enforcement Directorate officials, including Manoj Dwivedi, for allegedly demanding and accepting a Rs 5 lakh bribe to influence a case involving the complainant’s father.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested two Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials on Tuesday, following a sting operation that captured them demanding a Rs 5 lakh bribe. The operation, conducted under the pretext of a routine case, recorded the officials, including Manoj Dwivedi, accepting the money on behalf of an ED officer. The bribe was allegedly intended to secure a favourable outcome for the father of a complainant in an ongoing investigation. The CBI has filed charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code, and the arrested officers are now in custody pending further inquiry.
