The Union Cabinet has approved an ₹8,300 crore project to construct a coastal highway stretching from Rameshwar to Paradeep in Odisha.
The Union Cabinet gave its nod to a massive infrastructure scheme worth ₹8,300 crore aimed at building a coastal highway along Odisha's shoreline.
The 200‑kilometre stretch will connect the town of Rameshwar in the north to the major port city of Paradeep in the south, linking several coastal districts.
Officials say the highway is expected to boost regional trade, tourism and logistics by providing a faster, safer route for freight and passengers.
The project will be executed by the National Highways Authority of India in partnership with state agencies, with land acquisition and detailed project reports already underway.
