The annual Chunri Yatra in Burhanpur attracted thousands of devotees who witnessed a flying Hanuman idol and a helicopter releasing flowers over the crowd.
Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh – The city’s annual Chunri Yatra turned into a spectacular display of devotion on Saturday as organizers staged a flying Hanuman idol that hovered above the procession route. The airborne figure, suspended from a crane and lifted by a motorised rig, drew awe‑filled cheers from the gathered crowd.
Adding to the visual feast, a helicopter circled the venue and released a cascade of fresh flowers, creating a colourful rain that showered participants and added a festive ambience. Local officials said the aerial elements were intended to highlight the cultural significance of the yatra and attract wider attention.
Thousands of devotees, many carrying traditional chunris (scarves) as offerings, lined the streets, chanting hymns and participating in the ritual. The event concluded with the traditional distribution of prasadam, while police and municipal teams ensured smooth crowd management throughout the day.
