Authorities warn that immobilised tipper trucks on the Ambala‑Chandigarh highway are creating a serious safety hazard for motorists.
The Punjab traffic police have reported an increasing number of tipper trucks that have broken down on the Ambala‑Chandigarh highway, a major arterial route connecting the industrial belt of Punjab with the national capital region. These stalled vehicles, often left unattended on the carriageway, are obstructing traffic flow and have already been linked to several near‑miss incidents and minor collisions during peak hours. Police officials said they are deploying tow trucks and roadside assistance teams to clear the stranded tipers, and have urged drivers to report any immobilised vehicle immediately to the helpline. The department also announced plans to install additional signage and speed‑calming measures near known trouble spots to reduce the likelihood of accidents. Motorists are advised to exercise caution, maintain safe distances, and avoid overtaking broken‑down tipers, especially in low‑visibility conditions.
