The body of Kuljit Singh Sandhu, the incumbent sarpanch of Mahimad Mandrawala (Ramdas) village in the Ajnala block of Punjab, was recovered after he was reported missing earlier this week. Sandhu, a former soldier and member of the Aam Aadmi Party, had been missing for several days.
His relatives say his mobile phone stayed active for about 14 hours after his disappearance, yet police were unable to locate him during that time. The family has publicly criticised the authorities for the delay.
