The Bharatiya Janata Party has forwarded a list of 24 candidates to the Election Commission for the eight Rajya Sabha seats from Uttar Pradesh, with two senior Brahmin leaders expected to secure nominations.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially sent a roster of 24 names to the Election Commission in Delhi for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections from Uttar Pradesh. The list covers the eight seats that the party will contest in the upper house of Parliament.

The submission marks a key step in the state’s Rajya Sabha poll process, which is scheduled to be held later this month. By forwarding the names to Delhi, the BJP complies with the statutory requirement that parties nominate their candidates well before the voting by the state legislators.

Among the shortlisted candidates, two senior Brahmin leaders are reported to be in strong contention for the tickets. While the party has not disclosed their identities, political analysts suggest that their inclusion reflects the BJP’s effort to balance caste representation and consolidate its traditional support base in the state.

Opposition parties are expected to scrutinise the list closely, arguing that the BJP’s candidate pool may tilt the balance of power in the Rajya Sabha in its favour. The final allocation of seats will be decided by the elected members of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

The Rajya Sabha election is viewed as a litmus test for the BJP’s organisational strength in the state ahead of the next general elections, with the outcome likely to influence both state and national political calculations.
