The West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has refuted circulating reports that ex-Trinamool Congress councillors will stand in the upcoming municipal elections.
In a statement released today, the West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party said it had no intention of fielding former Trinamool Congress councillors in the forthcoming municipal elections.
The party responded to rumours that ex‑TMC members were being considered for municipal positions, clarifying that no such candidates have been nominated.
BJP officials emphasised that the party will focus on its own cadre for the elections and that any claims about former TMC councillors are baseless.
The statement comes ahead of the municipal elections scheduled soon, with dates yet to be announced.
