The recent Bihar MLC elections saw the BJP win the Tirhut constituency, while the Jan Suraaj Party’s candidate in Darbhanga recorded a reduced margin of victory.
The latest results of Bihar's Legislative Council elections show the Bharatiya Janata Party securing the Tirhut seat, marking a clear win for the party in the northern district. In the neighboring Darbhanga constituency, the Jan Suraaj Party, founded by political strategist Prashant Kishor, managed to retain the seat but with a noticeably slimmer lead than earlier projections suggested.
Analysts note that the BJP's victory in Tirhut reinforces its foothold in the region ahead of upcoming state assembly polls, while the narrowing margin in Darbhanga signals a growing contestation by the Jan Suraaj Party against traditional rivals. Both outcomes reflect the shifting dynamics of Bihar's upper house politics, where regional parties and national players vie for influence.
Election officials have confirmed the results and are preparing to convene the newly elected council members. The developments are expected to shape party strategies as they gear up for the next electoral cycle in the state.
